Nationwide Criminal Records

Nationwide Criminal Records

If you enter the search terms "nationwide criminal search" in a search engine, you will find millions of results from companies that offer these background checks with one click of a button. The sad truth about national criminal checks is the fact they are not possible to perform the way some of these sites claim.

There is no database somewhere out there that holds the criminal records of all of us. Well, actually there is, but you can't access it. This database belongs to the FBI and law enforcement. So how do you perform a nationwide criminal search? You do it by searching files at the local levels.

Most criminal records, unless they are federal charges, are brought at the local level. They are brought at the most local of local levels, the county level. That's right; there are a lot of states that still do not have a statewide criminal check. If some states can't offer a statewide criminal search, how is it possible for a company to offer a nationwide search?

If charges are brought at the local level it makes sense then that in order to do a criminal check, you have to search each county the subject lived in. That's where these types of background checks get tricky. In order to perform one, you need to know all previous addresses on your subject. This is relatively easy information to find.

Once you know the address history you can perform your criminal search. Do not try to do these searches at a site that tells you all criminal records will be revealed at the push of a button. Instead, go to a site that offers you the ability to find the address history and iniceate a background check in those counties based on the addresses. This is the smart way to perform your search.

I have scoured the internet for five years trying to find a decent background check site on the internet that the public has access to. I, as a private investigator, have access to unbelievable records- but still no nationwide criminal check. That's right, not even us private investigators have access to that kind of information. But, don't pay me $ 300 to do this search for you. Spend an hour and less that $ 30 and do it yourself.
