Walking With Grace and Poise – Looking Good!

Walking With Grace and Poise – Looking Good!

You make an entrance everyday. But do you make an entrance? Do you command attention because of your good posture and confidence when you walk into a restaurant, classroom, boardroom or onto the runway?

Below are my 7 tips to get you moving with grace and poise. Whether you want to be a model or simply walk beautifully, follow these tips:

1. Walk in one line. Men walk in two lines, women in one. This does not mean crossing over. Walk as if on a line, one foot directly in front of the other.

2. Toes out, slightly. Don’t let your toes turn in. Turn them out just a bit.

3. Chin up. If you look down at the ground, your entire body pitches forward. The ground will be there for you. Promise.

4. Shoulders seated and back. There is a yoga move that will put you in proper alignment. Stand feet hip-distance apart. Reach straight down with your hands. Reach hard to the ground. You will feel your back stretch upward. Keep that stance, and relax your arms.

5. Hips under you. Imagine being pulled forward by your hip bones. Don’t lean back, but tuck your tush. This supports your back and looks fabulous.

6. Don’t bend your knees. When women wear heels and don’t know how to walk properly in them, they tend to bend their knees. Get those knees straightened out when you step forward.

7. Make eye contact. What does eye contact have to do with walking? Everything. Look down and your body follows. Make eye contact and you look confident and strong. Hopefully, you also look compelling!

Practice everyday. A beautiful walk, especially in heels, is something to be mastered.
