Salvation Is Great

Salvation Is Great

There is only one road to heaven and that is via Jesus. As simple as that. Even if I do only good in my life and nothing bad (and I suspect such a person has not been born yet), the gates of heaven will remain closed.

The only way that you and I can inherit Eternal Life and walk into heaven freely does not involve us at all. It is found only in Jesus’ act of salvation on the cross, Jesus who is God and Lord.

It’s not great to say it, but if you have not accepted Jesus as your Saviour, if you do not worship Him as King of your life, sorry, no heaven for you.

It is bad to know that some of our loved ones are simply too stubborn to make this simple message true in their lives. Some simply refuse to make space for Jesus in their lives. I wonder why?

2-3If the old message delivered by the angels was valid and nobody got away with anything, do you think we can risk neglecting this latest message, this magnificent salvation? First of all, it was delivered in person by the Master, then accurately passed on to us by those who heard it from him.

For sure this salvation from sin is wonderful – the Greek word tay-lik-oo’-tos is translated in English as great. Barnes (e-sword) says it’s great, because its author is great. Jesus and God are wonderful and from their love for mankind a super plan of salvation was put together.

This salvation is certainly great, because it saves us from all our sin! Do you know how bad the pressure of sin can be? It takes all the joy from life and drains your energy.

This salvation is wonderful and great, because it saves us from eternal damnation. We know the story. The punishment for all the many sins we have is far from God’s presence – hell. And it is from this terrible situation that we are saved.

This salvation is so great because it was brought about by an unending display of power, wisdom and love. The almighty God became human. How great is this? But in the process, He had to be humiliated and rejected. He had to suffer and eventually die on the cross like a murderer.

This salvation is so great, because Jesus had to die, but, fortunately, death was not strong enough. Death could not keep Him and Jesus came out victorious on the other side. How great is that?

O, how much do people who do not believe in Jesus miss out on!

May our lives speak of Jesus’ huge act of salvation every day. May people be transformed because they see our faith in Jesus’ wonderful act of salvation. May God’s Spirit help us to live like that.

Hebrews 2:1-4

Reflection

How great is Jesus’ act of salvation to you?

Do you live it?

Do others notice it?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, if You had not died for me, life would’ve been without hope. How terrible to think that I would have had to carry the burden of my sin every day, an ever-growing burden, and would never have been able to look forward to eternity with You. Please help me to witness about this unashamedly. Amen.
