Miami Playa is a small purpose-built resort 20km from Salou and 120km from Barcelona in the autonomous community of Catalonia. That lies in an enchanting backdrop between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. There are 12km of coastline with some of its beaches regularly receiving the coveted blue flag awarded for cleanliness and environmentally friendliness. This part of the Costa Dorada enjoys a moderate climate throughout the area with the highest temperatures reaching refreshingly mid to late 20’s in degrees Celsius. Add to that the 300 days of sunshine it receives means that there is less to disturb you during that well-earned bathe on the Golden Coast. And if you do happen to feel a little thirsty, a short walk to one of the many bars is a mere stone’s throw away.
For those who want to take in more active enterprises then there are a host of water sports such as surfing, sailing, water skiing and the more relaxing sport of fishing. On dry land there is golf, tennis and squash. For exploring around the area you could go mounted on a bike or horse or simply go on foot and hike up the mountain trails. Of which the views of down below are simply breathtaking
There are also the theme parks based at Port Aventura, which takes about 15 minutes to drive to. These are ideal for families with loads of enjoyment for the children with featured shows, rides, and sets based on different locations throughout the world such as Polynesia, China and Mexico. There is also a set based on the Wild West. The water park next door also provides rides and has a Laguna named after the famous cartoon character Woody Woodpecker – which is very colourful and fun to play in.
There are nearby shops which will help you to fill that gift list or you can venture to one of the nearby towns such as the historic Tarragona that dates back to Roman times and still has remains there to remind you of this past. Or you can visit the area of Ebro Delta – wetlands dedicated to birds of all varieties, which have made this habitat their own.
There are three airports that effectively could get you close to your destination at Miami Playa. These are Barcelona International, Reus and Girona. Barcelona International may offer the best flight deals but take into consideration how much it will cost to cover the rest of the journey and how convenient they are. There are also cheap flight companies that travel to Reus and Girona. Transfers such as shuttle services and car hire can be booked in advance at the same time as booking your flight tickets. This is highly recommended especially to ensure you have made the right arrangements and you understand the costs. Taxis as usual can always be taken at the airports themselves.
