How Can I Run an FBI Background Check?

Have you ever wondered how to go about running a FBI background check? If that is something you are interested in then let’s get started. The FBI background checks are the kind of information that is filed from various fingerprint submissions recorded by the FBI in relation to federal and local arrests.

This also applies to some types of federal employment, security, or even military service records in which the Federal Bureau of Investigation files fingerprints into their national database. This complicated process is commonly referred to as a federal criminal background check. You can actually run one in several different ways including online.

The process of getting a FBI criminal background check directly from the Federal Bureau of Investigation is what I will cover here.

First of all you will need an applicant application form which you can get from http://www.fbi.gov. You will also need to include your full mailing address, phone number, and email address. Next you will need to get the FD-258 standard fingerprint form. That can also be obtained at the FBI website as well.

You have to have this and then you will need to put your full set of fingerprints on the form. Next you will need a money order or cashier’s check for $18 dollars and be sure it is made payable to the Treasury of the United States. Finally mail all the items to the following address and remember it may take up to twelve weeks to respond.
