Prom Make Up: Doing It Right

Prom Make Up: Doing It Right

Prom night is a very exciting time in a girl’s life. You want to make sure it’s memorable. Planning your dress, hair and make up can be very exciting to the weeks leading up to the prom, but it can also be stressful. Save yourself the headache of worrying about your make up by following a few beauty tips that are sure to make you look great for your prom.

First, it’s important to make sure your make up will stay on all night long. You want to enjoy yourself and not have to worry about retouching your lipstick or powder. Make up primer is a girl’s best friend. There are primers for every part of the face, so wear a primer before you put on foundation or powder, lipstick and eyeshadow. This will ensure that your make up stays on throughout the night. Also, make sure to moisturize your face well before the primer.

Consider your dress when choosing your make up. If your dress is super glittery, then you don’t want to use too much glitter on your eyes. Use a matte eyeshadow for your base color and apply a small amount shadow with shimmer on your outer crease. This will give you a good amount of sparkle without being tacky. You can also apply bronzer that has shimmer in it on your shoulders and chest. You can get shimmer powders, bronzers and eyeshadow with shimmer from a beauty supply store or a cosmetics wholesaler.

Choose a feature: lips or eyes. If it’s your eyes that you want to play up, then you’ll have to downplay your lips. No red lipstick when your eyes are dark and smokey with shimmer. If you really want the red lips, then you’ll have to go lighter with your eye make up and keep your skin light.

For a more natural look around your eyes, use soft and neutral eyeshadow such as beige, brown and tan. You can combine different shadows by blending them and put a little darker shadow on your outer crease. Use a soft black eyeliner to draw a thin line on your eyelid, getting thicker on your outer crease. You can even use a white or silver eyeshadow and a black eyeliner – this looks great with pale skin.

If you’re focusing on red lips, skip the bronzer and go for a foundation as close to your skin tone as possible, and use a light powder with shimmer in it. Finish off with a blush in a natural pinkish hue. Once you have this natural light make up on your eyes and face, you can have fun with your lips with a bold red lip liner and lipstick. These can also be found at beauty suppliers or at wholesale cosmetics outlets.
